FAQ

Are your products natural?

Yes, all our candles are made using all-natural, 100% soy wax for both clean and long lasting burn.

Why use wooden wicks?

We love the soft soothing crackling sound it creates while burning. We also find that wooden wicks maximize the scent distribution with the type of wax we use. Because we use natural soy wax, our candles will not have an overwhelming scent throw as store-bought paraffin candles may have. Our candles are rather delicate and suitable for everyday use yet bold enough to leave nice trails of soothing aromas in medium sized rooms.

Why does my candle have a white crystalline layer or rough surface after-burn?

The occasional white crystalline coating on the side/top of the jar is called "frosting" and it is a normal occurrence with natural soy wax. This does not affect the quality or the performance of the candle’s burn or scent in anyway and also means your wax is 100% natural.

Frosting or irregular, bumpy surface between each burn is also an indication that we are using all-natural soy wax. Many store bought candles contain unnatural additives to achieve the creamy smooth tops, and although synthetic additives can be used to help prevent frosting, we opted to keep our candles free from unnatural ingredients.

How long do your candles burn for?

Our 8.5oz candles burn for approximately 40-50 hours. Burning times are best achieved when candle care instructions are fully followed.

Are your fragrances phthalate free?

Yes, all the fragrance oils we use in candle production are free of phthalates, parabens, and ethically sourced.

How do I light my wood wick candle?

It can be a little tricky on the first burn as the wick has never been lit before but the best technique is to tilt the candle on an angle and let the flame draw across the length of the wick. When lighting for the first time, burn the candle until wax melt across the entire surface. This will prevent tunneling and create an even burn for the duration of the candle's life.

Why won’t the wooden wick in my candle light? Why is the flame so weak?

This happens if you have trimmed the wooden wick too short and the wax around the wood drowns out the flame. But don’t worry, simply use a napkin to soak up the melted wax and you will see the flame growing stronger. If your candle is not lighting at all, scrape off some of the wax around the wood and light it again.

I don't trim my wooden wick, is that bad?

Leaving a wick long means that you'll have a larger flame, which will melt more wax and give the candle more fuel. This larger amount of fuel can lead to incomplete combustion, which in turn creates more soot, making your candle container black and dirty. Your candle will also last less longer that our approximated burning time which have been calculated by trimming the wicks. To ensure you are trimming your wooden wick correctly, please use a wick trimmer. If you don't have one, you can use a nail clipper - it works just as well!

My candle tunneling, what should I do?

You can cover the top of your candle with tinfoil and cut an opening on the top roughly 1″ wide, or small enough that tinfoil remains above the candle. Carefully light the candle and let it burn for a few hours. Once the burn completes, the tunneling should be smaller than before.

As candles has ''wax memory'', this is why it is important that when you burn your candle (especially for the first time), to let it burn until the wax melt across the entire surface. This will prevent tunneling and create an even burn for the duration of the candle's life.

Can the jar be repurposed?

Yes, after properly removing the wax residue from the jar - you’re able to repurpose the vessel.
